We are honored to be the general contractor for Portside Pier, an exciting new dockside dining destination under construction along the San Diego Embarcadero. The San Diego Business Journal took note of the project and joined us for a virtual tour last month. The story made the cover of the paper, which subscribers can check out here.
The new pier and structure will feature several restaurants including Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar, Miguel’s, Ketch Brewing Tasting Deck, Top Sail Lounge, Ketch Grill & Taps and Portside Coffee & Gelato shop. As noted in the article, part of the structure will showcase a curved barrel-shaped steel roof combined with Brazilian hardwood siding to represent someone throwing a net from the wooden deck of a boat. Other architectural elements will include public walkways and viewing decks and two metal and glass baskets meant to represent fishing baskets.
The new dining spot, which replaces the former site of Anthony’s Fish Grotto, “…could well become a new landmark along downtown San Diego’s bayfront,” according to the paper.
The project is being developed by The Brigantine Restaurant Corp. Also working on the project are Tucker Sadler Architects, B&G Consultants, Merkel, WRA, Inc., Moffat & Nichol International, Inc. R.E. Staite and PK Associates.
