Pacific Building Group Completes New Corporate Headquarters, Cafe in Rancho Bernardo

Renovate America’s team is dining and working in style, thanks to a striking renovation of the company’s new corporate headquarters in San Diego, Calif.

Completed by Pacific Building Group, architecture firm Gensler and construction management firm Gilliland Construction Management, the appetizing new headquarters in the Rancho Vista Corporate Center is now modern, light-filled, and showcases a blend of soft, earthy materials and sharp lines.

Landlord Swift Real Estate Partners spent approximately $20 million on the renovation, which included revamping an existing 150,000-square-foot building’s interior space and constructing a new 10,000-square-foot café building.

The LEED-certified building was also designed, permitted and constructed in just eight months, while the company occupied the main building. The team followed a rigorous schedule of six days per week to complete the project on time.

Construction of the 10,000 square-foot ground-up café and office space included:
• Creation of a space that opens to the rest of the structure and lobby
• Creation of a bridge that connects the lobby and the main building
• Construction of burnished concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls

The interior buildout included:
• Demolition of the outside skin of the building
• Installation of a new curtain wall for two floors of full glass
• Addition of skylights and a full opening in the second floor to allow natural light to reach the first floor
• Construction of burnished concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls
• Completion of facilities upgrades, including showers and restrooms throughout the building

A 34-year-old general contracting firm, Pacific Building Group has built or revitalized several corporate headquarters for such companies as Callaway Golf, Travis Mathew, Nuvasive, Verizon, Qualcomm, Sony, Sharp and General Atomics.
