San Diego, CA — At Pacific Building Group safety isn’t just a priority, it is a key part of our culture and foundation. We are proud to enter the new year with an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.52, well below the industry benchmark of 1.0. This reflects our commitment to creating safe work environments, reducing risk, and delivering projects reliably.

Our success starts in the field with our exceptional self-performed drywall team and our talented group of field superintendents, who set the standard for jobsite safety every day. Their diligence and commitment help ensure every crew member goes home safely. We’re equally committed to supporting them through ongoing safety training, resources, and collaboration to keep our team at the forefront of construction safety excellence. A safe jobsite doesn’t happen by chance — it happens by choice, discipline, and leadership.

We are especially proud to highlight one of our superintendents, Kevin Shieds, recently named “Superintendent of the Year” by the Associated Subcontractors & Affiliates (ASA) San Diego/Orange County Chapter. This award recognizes exceptional communication, integrity, and safety-driven performance on the job site. Kevin was also named as PBG’s “Superintendent of the year” in 2023, an internal company award predicated on safety.

Why does this matter to our industry partners? A low EMR rating, award-winning safety leadership, and a dedicated culture of training and continuous improvement reduce risk, enhance project delivery, and ensure predictable results. Choosing Pacific Building Group means working with a general contractor that prioritizes safety, quality, and reliability every step of the way to deliver the highest level of service, every time.
