San Diego, CA — Over the past year, Pacific Building Group has had the privilege of partnering with Helen Woodward Animal Center to bring a visionary new project to life: the Sharon Lee MacDonald Humane Education Campus. Built from the ground up, this innovative new facility is now open and ready to inspire a new generation of animal caretakers across San Diego County.

Designed as a children’s campus with a focus on humane education, the facility includes child-friendly playgrounds, animal-safe ponds, secure childcare areas, interactive exploration rooms, and specialized entries to keep both kids and animals safe. Every feature was thoughtfully constructed to foster a deeper understanding of animal welfare, compassion, and stewardship from an early age.

The journey began with a powerful moment: breaking ground on what would become a transformative space for the community. Over the months that followed, our teams worked hand in hand to bring the vision to reality. On Opening Day, the energy, excitement, and emotion spoke volumes—this campus is more than a building; it’s a place where values take root.

“Helen Woodward is probably looking down on us very excited about what we have created and how we have taken her vision and seen it really grow and come to life and of course, Pacific Building Group is a part of helping us bring Helen Woodward’s vision to life.”

Pacific Building Group is honored to have played a part in creating a space that will leave a lasting impact on children, animals, and the broader community.
