Pacific Building Group Completes Southern California Office for Fish & Richardson

Pacific Building Group has completed the Southern California office for Fish & Richardson LLP, which marks the sixth law firm office in two years that the general contractor has completed, with two more law firm projects currently underway. Fish & Richardson’s new Southern California office features first-of-its-kind source code rooms, ample meeting space and more. The global IP law firm will occupy the entire top fourth floor and one-half of the third floor – approximately 32,300 square feet – in Kilroy Realty’s new mid-rise Class A office building in One Paseo at 12860 El Camino Real, Suite 400 in San Diego. The One Paseo campus development includes two office buildings, retail shops and restaurants and luxury apartments all within a walkable, vibrant community.

“Fish & Richardson challenged us to build a space that would be aesthetically pleasing and inclusive of the latest office technology available,” says Jim Roherty, president of Pacific Building Group. “We know the inviting San Diego-inspired space will complement the firm’s outstanding work.”

The innovative source code rooms are three 9×10-foot, glass-walled rooms specifically designed as observation rooms, which allow source code reviewers a monitored place to review code. The prefabricated rooms were designed using DIRTT software, which allowed for the rapid installation of customized, high-quality rooms. Source code review is a critical part of discovery in intellectual property litigation involving computer technology, and having a dedicated space allows for greater efficiencies in client work.

Fish’s office has nine conference rooms in total – five which serve as public meeting areas and four internal conference rooms. Two of the public rooms can be converted into one large gathering space, where glass NanaWalls can be withdrawn to reveal a large reception area and indoor-outdoor patio space. The office also includes a newly-constructed monument staircase, a skyfold partition, cafe/break room, coffee bar, catering kitchen and mother’s room. Additional design features include decorative ceilings and custom casework.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Pacific Building Group team and appreciate the professionalism and responsiveness they brought to our new office project. Their attention to service, detail and craftsmanship was outstanding. PBG created a sophisticated space for our firm in which we can provide a safe, comfortable environment for our employees and clients.” Roger Denning, Southern California Office Managing Principal, Fish & Richardson.

The project’s interior designer, ID Studios, executed an organized, yet natural and flowing theme that incorporates warm woods and blue, grey and rust colors. Walnut office furniture is by System Source and offices include sit-stand desks. Hughes Marino provided construction management and engaged Pacific Building Group early in the design phase to provide preconstruction and design-assist services, which resulted in a well-executed, collaborative project.

The office was completed largely while COVID-19 stay-at-home orders were in place. Pacific Building Group was diligent to ensure a safe building environment throughout the construction process, by adhering to and strictly enforcing the COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC and County of San Diego.
