General contractor Pacific Building Group has completed a full office remodel for Knobbe Martens, one of the country’s largest intellectual property and technology law firms. Located at 3579 Valley Centre Dr. in Del Mar Heights, the reimagined office space spans nearly 49,000-square-feet across three floors. The nearly $3.5 million tenant-improvement project marks the seventh law office remodel Pacific Building Group has completed in San Diego county over the past three years.
Knobbe Martens desired an office space that would blend some of the existing office’s architectural features with new, more modern features.
“To achieve the desired outcome, we had to complete select demolition and host regular on-site meetings with all key vendors to ensure a highly coordinated effort,” said Butch Miller, senior superintendent at Pacific Building Group. “The result is a more functional and beautiful office space with a large conference center and patio, which blends the original character of the building with exciting new elements.”
Pacific Building Group started the project with select demolition work on the second and third floors, and completely demolished the first floor and patio. The construction team then refreshed the firm’s offices, reception area, conference rooms and breakrooms, and completely built out the first floor and patio. Part of the build-out included two large steel trellises on the patio and a large conference center and catering kitchen on the first floor.
“PBG was a wonderful partner on this project,” said Michael Fuller, managing partner of the Knobbe Martens office in San Diego. “They were timely, on budget, and Butch and the entire PBG team were very committed to ensuring that the work was done to our specifications.”
Pacific Building Group worked closely with the design team at ID Studios. Other key participants on the project included CBRE, Kilroy Realty, Coffman Engineers and H+W Engineering. Pacific Building Group team members on the project included Butch Miller, Deena Isa, Yan Melentyev and Spencer Knapp.
